Dwayne Bravo is Replaced at TKR by Bryan Charles

For the remainder of the CPL 2024, the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) signed local offspinner Bryan Charles to replace Dwayne Bravo. Bravo, whose time in the CPL 2024 was cut short due to a groin injury, declared his retirement from all forms of cricket on Thursday. Bravo sustained the injury during the seventh over at Tarouba while attempting to grab the catch from Kings skipper Faf du Plessis.

Charles, 29, is a domestic cricket player for Trinidad & Tobago. However, he has yet to participate in an official T20 match. Since he was called up to the West Indies Test team for the home Test series against South Africa earlier this year, he is more well-known for his red-ball abilities.

In the West Indies four-day tournament, Charles led Trinidad & Tobago in wicket-taking with 31 wickets at an average of 17 across seven games. Included in the total was a career-high 13-wicket performance against Jamaica in Kingston in April.

Sunil Narine, who has missed TKR’s last three games due to a quad issue, might be covered by Charles. On Friday, TKR’s final home game of the season, against the Barbados Royals, Kieron Pollard had Tim David bowling off-spin with the dry new ball due to an injury.

If Narine is still deemed unsuitable for the postseason, Charles may be considered for selection, given the presence of three left-handers in the Royals’ starting six. This means that TKR and the Royals could face each other again in the Eliminator.

According to Pollard, David has also been added to TKR’s injury list. On Friday, he appeared to injure his side and hit his head on the ground while fielding a six at the boundary.

“The injuries are indeed a major concern,” Pollard stated following the game. “Russell is still injured, Narine is still not well, and Tim [David] is also leaving the field. My body is starting to tire a little from the lengthy competition.

“Having said that, we’re still going to rally, keep working hard, and take breaks when needed. The physicians, physiotherapists, and support personnel are all doing an incredibly fantastic job keeping the guys in the park.”
